What a dry powder has to do first
Swallow a powder-filled capsule and a sequence has to happen: the shell opens, the powder disperses, and each particle has to dissolve into intestinal fluid before crossing the gut wall. For a compound as water-insoluble as curcumin, that last step is the bottleneck. Much of the powder simply passes through undissolved.
What a liquid micelle capsule does differently
A micelle is a microscopic sphere formed by surfactant molecules, with a water-friendly outside and an oil-friendly inside. Curcumin sits in the oil-friendly core, which means it is already in solution before it is swallowed. The dissolution step has effectively been done during manufacture rather than in your gut.

Why formulation, not dose, is the comparison that matters
Two products can declare the same milligrams of curcuminoids and deliver very different amounts to circulation, because the label describes the capsule contents rather than what is absorbed. This is the reason curcumin marketing fixates on delivery systems: it is the variable that actually moves.

Practical differences you will notice
- No black pepper. Because solubility is handled by the micelle, piperine is unnecessary. Some people find piperine irritating.
- Serving size. Liquid capsules are typically two per serving. Check servings per container rather than capsule count.
- Storage. Keep liquid capsules cool and dry; heat can affect the shell.
